Is Room Rent Market a broker?
No. Room Rent Market is a media platform / notice board. We do not charge brokerage here, we do not collect rent or deposit, and we are not a party to any agreement. You deal directly with the advertiser.
Does Room Rent Market have a RERA number?
No. RERA project registration is for promoters who sell plots, apartments or buildings in a project. Each state has its own RERA portal (Jharkhand: jharera.jharkhand.gov.in). Room Rent Market is a media platform. For sale/plot listings we require the advertiser’s RERA number or a declaration that RERA does not apply. Always verify the number on that state’s official site. Ordinary rent and PG are generally not RERA projects.
Does Room Rent Market verify the property or the owner?
No. We publish details the advertiser submits (photos, rent, map pin, RERA notes, contact). A “phone verified” badge only means SMS OTP succeeded. It is not proof of ownership, vacancy, or legal title. Kindly authenticate independently — visit, check papers, and the state RERA website where it applies.
Why do I need to verify my phone?
Owner numbers stay hidden until you verify. That cuts spam. When you unlock contact, you first accept a fraud checklist, then the owner gets a notification with your name and number.
Does “Book visit” reserve the room?
No. It only sends a visit request. The owner can accept or decline from Notifications. Marking a listing as booked is a separate step the owner takes when the room is actually taken.
How do I list my property?
Sign in, tap List your property, then pick what you are listing, add photos, map pin and contact. You must confirm you are authorised to advertise. Drafts stay private until you publish. You can edit or delete your listing anytime from My listings.
What is Shortlist / Saved?
Same thing. Heart a listing to save it. Open Saved in the sidebar to see that list again.
Can I pay rent on this website?
No. Never send token or deposit through a stranger’s UPI because of a chat. Visit first. If someone rushes you to pay to “block” the room, walk away. See How it works for the full safety list.
How do I avoid fraud?
Do not pay before a visit. Do not share OTPs, UPI PINs or Aadhaar. Prefer in-app messages so there is a record. If photos look stolen, the pin does not match, or rent is unrealistically low, skip the listing and report it.
Safety checklist
- Never pay a token, deposit or brokerage before visiting the property in person.
- Meet in a public or well-lit part of the building for the first visit.
- Owner numbers stay hidden until both of you verify a phone number.
- Do not share OTPs, UPI PINs or bank details in chat.
- Use in-app message or book visit so there is a record of the conversation.
- If you are buying a plot or apartment, verify the RERA number on that state’s official portal — not a screenshot.
Common fraud signs
- They ask for money to “block” or “hold” the room before a visit.
- Rent is far below the area, and they refuse a physical visit.
- They send a payment QR / UPI of a different name than the listing.
- They ask you to install remote-access apps or share an OTP.
- Photos look stolen, or the map pin does not match the address they describe.
