This policy explains what Room Rent Market (“we”, “us”) collects when you use roomrentmarket.com, and how we use it. We run a listings marketplace for rooms, PGs, flats, commercial space and land in India. We do not collect rent or deposits on the platform.
1. Who we are
Room Rent Market is operated from Ranchi, Jharkhand, India. For privacy questions write to support@roomrentmarket.com.
2. Information we collect
- Account. Name, Indian mobile number, email, and (if you use Google) your Google profile photo. Phone sign-in uses SMS OTP. Email sign-in uses a password.
- Verification. We store that your number completed SMS OTP. That is not a check of property ownership. We show owner contact only to verified users and notify owners when someone unlocks their number.
- Listings. Property type, rent, deposit, address, map pin, photos, amenities, preferred tenants, RERA number or exemption you declare, and the owner name or phone you choose to publish.
- Messages and visits. Enquiry text, booking requests, preferred visit date, and whether the owner accepted or declined.
- Location. Only if you tap Auto / My location. We use it to search nearby listings. We do not track you in the background.
- Safety checks. reCAPTCHA may run during phone sign-in. In production we use Vercel Analytics for anonymous page views.
3. How we use it
- Create and keep your account signed in.
- Publish and search listings, including map pins.
- Deliver messages, visit requests and in-app notifications to the other party.
- Reveal owner contact after you verify your phone, and tell the owner who viewed it.
- Limit contact unlocks so numbers are not harvested.
- Prevent spam, fake listings and abuse.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not run ads against your inbox.
4. Who can see it
- Anyone can see published listing details (not the owner’s phone until unlock).
- The owner sees your name and verified phone when you message, book a visit, or unlock contact.
- Photos are stored with our image host so they can load on the site. Map search uses geocoding so a pin can be placed.
- Firebase handles phone OTP and Google / email sign-in. MongoDB stores listings and inbox data on our servers.
5. How long we keep it
Account, listings, messages and visit requests stay until you delete them or we close the account for abuse. If you delete a listing, related saved items and threads for that listing are removed. You can ask us to delete your account at support@roomrentmarket.com.
6. Your rights (India)
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you may request access, correction or erasure of your personal data, and withdraw consent where we rely on it. We will respond from Ranchi, Jharkhand, India. Phone the numbers on our Contact page if email is not practical.
7. Children
The service is for people 18 years or older who can enter a rental arrangement in India. We do not knowingly create accounts for children.
8. Security
Sessions use signed tokens. Owner phones stay hidden on public APIs until a verified unlock. Still, no website is perfectly secure — do not send OTPs, UPI PINs or bank passwords in chat.
9. Changes
We will update this page when our product or the law changes. The date at the top is the latest version. Continued use means you accept the updated policy.
